Hump Day

I have a few quick things to post about tonight. I feel as though this whole week has been consumed with essays! Last night I finished the first draft of my ten and half page senior paper on... you guessed it... shoes. I'm quite proud of it, if I do say so myself. Currently (meaning as I type) I'm attempting to multi-task by posting and working on a paper for my Current World Problems class. The paper is supposed to address the Palestinian/Israeli conflict and come up with a solution, which I find very interesting. The thing is I'm having major writer's block and can't seem to get my ideas to flow eloquently on the paper. Which is how I ended up here, posting about my writing woes...

Anyway, my dearest mommy folded all the clothes that were a huge mess in my closet today, and laid everything out on my bed. In doing so, she has brought to my attention several clothing items I have forgotten about... and also brought to my attention my adoration with jeans! I counted, and I have 16 pairs. 16 beautiful, unique pairs of denim fabulousity. Now why my family will continue to give me sass for my obsession with jeans and shoes (they see each new pair superfluous!) I'm completely smitten. I could care less about shirts and tops and what have you. (Although I do love myself a good cardigan). However, my love affair with jeans and shoes is not likely to end anytime soon. My most recent jean purchase was a basic pair of skinny jeans from American Eagle. I had never purchased jeans there before and was pleasantly surprised. Plus, they were a fantastic price as well! My current denim craving is a pair of True Religions in the Julie style. Unfortunately, they're a bit out of my budge at the moment... regardless, I can still dream. Speaking of such things, perhaps I'll do a post on all my jeans. That could be interesting.

So one of the main reasons I was struck with inspiration and felt like posting on such a busy night was when I noticed some gorgeous colors of nail polish, from OPI of course. They're almost pastels, and so pretty. They seem like perfect summer or winter colors. A bit too muted for fall, and not quite exuberant enough for cheery spring, but perfect for summer and winter.

From top to bottom: Party In My Cabana, Breathe Light, and Go On Green.

So fantastic, right? I definitely think so :)

I'm going to put up some pictures tomorrow of Balenciaga and Proenza Shouler's spring 2010 ready to wear collections. They're filled with black! Now black and dark colors for the spring... that's definitely very me, but something I hadn't really pondered too much about. Ive also seen lots of black and other dark colors in the shows of Givenchy and Balmain as well. BLACK IS BACK! Well, it was never really gone, but I'm loving this whole black in the spring thing. How chic. Of course Haider Ackermann has had some fantastic looks in his spring 2010 collection as well. Very dark... and fabulous.

Well it seems to be that my CWP paper is calling my name....

Can't wait for winter break in TWO days!

  1. ;I am sure your senior project will be a great success. I was interested to hear about your current affairs paper - I remember well when Israel was proclaimed a state in 1948. The British had been trying to keep peace there since before WW1, and increasingly difficult task with the proliferation of Zionism. Statehood just opened another can of worms, and there has been no peace (and I wonder if there ever will be in that part of the world where war goes back beyond Biblical times)

I love jeans too, but you are so young, pretty and have such a nice figure I hope you will wear some of the feminine stuff, too. And in colors - black is OK, but you will note that I prefer cheery colors which I think light up my face (at 93 that's what I need!)

  2. "True religion jeans in the Julie style"?!? is this like "a little bit of python in Mary Jane"? No wonder some of us don't understand fashion, the names are totally meaningless!! But perhaps that the fashion mafia's whole plan...keep most of us totally confused so we don't have the fabulosity factor??
